Embracing the future of workspaces
These days, it’s no longer surprising to see employees of different firms sharing a single workspace rather than cloistered in their own office buildings or units. This trend of “coworking,” first set up in San Francisco in 2005, arose with the advent of globalization, technological advances and sharing economy, further enhancing worker mobility and flexible work arrangements. Research data show coworking players worldwide will more than double this year—from 7,800 at the start of 2016 to 16,100 at year-end. Also, an estimated 3.8 million people are expected to work in coworking spaces by 2020, four times the number today at 976,000. Riding the wave Many business startups in South East Asia now embrace this trend. U.S. real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield projects coworking spaces to comprise 15 percent of the region’s total …‘Lanai living’ lands in the Enclave Alabang
Most Metro Manila lot owners have been conditioned to live within the four high walls of their homes – seemingly entrapped by iron grills on every window for good measure. The Enclave Alabang (TEA) intends to reverse this practice by enticing homeowners to extend their living spaces beyond their property lines into the community common areas – thereby expanding their recreational and entertainment options in new ways. The Enclave Alabang is a 10.5-hectare community along the fast-growing Daang Hari corridor in Southern Metro Manila. The residential subdivision with 169 lots from 304 to 597 sqm will be completed in 2017. It is developed and managed by the Filinvest Group. The novel scheme is the result of a collaboration among TEA clubhouse interior designers Budji Layug and Royal Pineda, H1 Architecture which was …Are you feeling the daily brain drain of your commute?
Latest research from flexible workspace provider Regus shows that business people regard their daily trip into and out of the office as a drain on productivity. This “limbo” of time that is mainly seen as neither productive work time, nor enjoyable personal time is widely regarded as an obstacle to more useful or entertaining pursuits. Of the almost 40,000 Regus survey respondents, 35% Filipino respondents report it is a pointless, undefined time, while 26% positively hate their commute and brand it as a ‘waste’ of their precious time. This means that for well over half of business people in the Philippines, commute time could be re-invested in more productive work time or in enjoying a few hours more sleep in the morning. Key survey findings include: Only a minority of business people in the …Okada Manila: 44-hectare massive integrated resort set to open in December
