Today, we’re making the YouTube Gaming mobile app available on iOS and Android in the Philippines. YouTube Gaming is an app that keeps you connected to the games, players, and culture that matter to you, with videos, live streams, and the biggest community of gamers on the web—all in one place. Job Hunting in the Digital Age

Like many recent college graduates, Ben Kim felt he was casting his résumé into an abyss when he clicked “apply online” for the hundredth or so time. “The most common response was nothing,” he said. That may be because, before capturing an employer’s eye, job hunters in the digital age often have to get past a round of robots scanning their résumé for keywords. Although the business of hiring is still largely a manual process, employers are experimenting with increasingly sophisticated technology. Some companies are setting loose automated recruiters that crawl the Web for the perfect hire, based on an algorithm. Others are asking job candidates to answer their first round of interview questions via video — perhaps not a huge ask for members of the YouTube generation. Use Keywords Many recruiters use tracking …

Google Maps Pit Stop Feature

Pit stops are almost inevitable whenever we’re on a trip. Sometimes we have to take a bathroom break, fuel up our car at gas stations, or if we need to buy snacks for the road trip. Some of us will be forced to ask directions for pit stops from the locals.   This consequently leads to longer travel time. Google Maps is one of the most essential apps that Google has developed to help those who want to explore places that are far away.  In the past, Google Maps can be used only with a stable internet …

The Carry-On Conundrum

Flying in an airplane can be a trying experience – you basically allow yourself to be hurled through the atmosphere inside a metal tube, and that is an intrinsically unnatural thing. The long lines, the interminable wait, the mediocre food, the helplessness of being trapped inside a cramped space with a couple of hundred people for long hours… the experience can easily turn into a nightmare. Fortunately, technology can help save your sanity or simply help you pass the time. Your trusty gadgets can help you survive the ordeal of a plane ride. However, a new challenge comes up whenever you bring something inside a plane. Repeated security checks (and locally, the threat of laglag-bala) are always a hassle. Compounding this annoyance is the fact that the rules change in every airport. …

Apps That Make Saving As Effortless As Spending

A new crop of electronic financial tools is trying to help Americans save. The fledgling apps are appealing to consumers like Brittney Gould, a 28-year-old retirement plan consultant in Rockville, Maryland. Gould dutifully maximizes automatic paycheck deductions to fund her own workplace 401(k) account. But for shorter-term savings, she uses the mobile app Qapital that lets users set multiple savings goals and have cash transferred into savings, based on rules the user sets. Users can, for instance, tell the app to save $5 every time they buy a latte. Gould likes being able to customize her account. When she peeks at her iPhone to see how much she has accumulated for pet expenses, she sees a photo of her dog. “It’s more motivating, and meaningful,” she said. Since she began using the app …
