Among celebrities gracing the red carpet are Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Zanjoe Marudo, Angelica Panganiban, Dawn Zulueta, Maja Salvador, Gerald Anderson, Bea Alonzo, Shaina Magdayao, Luis Manzano and Jessy Mendiola, among others. Duterte to look into US Embassy dispersal

President Rodrigo Duterte said he will be looking into the violent dispersal of protesters outside the U.S. Embassy last Wednesday, October 19. “I intend to look at it, I will try to talk to the police, and I will talk to the activists,” the president disclosed in a press briefing at the Davao international airport upon his arrival from state visits to Brunei and China. Hong Kong may have been drenched by rainy weather these past few days, but no downpour or flood deterred one old man’s love for a strong cup of joe. PAGASA: ‘Habagat’ season is over

The “habagat” season is over. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has officially declared the termination of the southwest monsoon Friday, October 21. “Recent climate analyses showed that significant weakening of the southwest monsoon winds has been observed over the past few days. Moreover, the strengthening of the high pressure systems over the mainland Asian continent has led to the gradual changing of the season,” said PAGASA administrator Vicente Malano in a statement. The southwest monsoon, associated with the rainy season, usually begins in July. It carries moisture from the Indian Ocean that induces rains in the country. The Habagat season usually coincides with the height of the typhoon season. Globe, in Duterte trip, bags $750M LTE, fiber network deals

Globe Telecom signed several agreements with its Chinese partners worth US$750 million for the improvement and enhancement of its LTE technologies in the country. These are among several deals signed during President Rodrigo Duterte’s state visit to China. The agreements with technology partners Huawei Technologies, Nokia and Wuhan FiberHome International Technologies cover a period of 5 years. “We are confident that our collaboration with Huawei, Nokia and Wuhan FiberHome will translate into a more robust Globe network that will meet the country’s future digital demands,” Globe president and CEO Ernest Cu said.
