Filipino, Korean talents shine at cultural exchange festival

Filipino and Korean acts came together again for the 2016 Philippine-Korea Cultural Exchange Festival held a few days ago at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). The festival, which ran for five hours, included a concert and a talent competition. The Serotonin Performing Arts Company opened the “Concert For Peace” followed by a medley of Korean folk songs performed by the Seoul National University (SNU) Korean Music Ensemble. The ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra and the Metro Manila Concert Orchestra joined the SNU Korean Music Ensemble onstage playing the Korean classic “Arirang,” under the baton of Gerard Salonga. Park Bogum goes on PH vacation

Korean star Park Bogum left Seoul for the Philippines recently as part of an incentive to the cast and crew of the successful drama “Love In The Moonlight.” He was reported to have boarded a flight to Cebu. The drama aired its last episode on Oct. 18 with 22.9 percent rating according to Nielsen, placing second overall. When the show hit 20 percent in the ratings, Park Bogum together with co-stars Kim Yoo-jung, Jinyoung and Kwak, held a fan signing event at Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul. About 500 people attended the event. Park Bogum rose to fame via the drama “Reply 1988.”

Stars, crew of ‘Love in the Moonlight’ have fun in Cebu

The stars and crew of the hit drama “Love in the Moonlight” are enjoying their vacation in Cebu. This is based on show star Bang Joong-hyun's Instagram posts, showing him and co-stars enjoying the sea and sun. One photo showed actors Park Bogum and Kwak Dong-yeon having fun on a boat. Bang also posted a photo together with actresses Han Soo-yeon and Jung Hye-sung. The cast and crew were also seen gathering at a resto bar in Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City. Korean cops arrive to help investigate killings in Pampanga

Seoul, South Korea — Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said the country’s police are now working together with their Philippine counterparts in investigating the killing of three Koreans in Pampanga recently. MOFA Deputy Spokesperson Sun Nahmkook told Manila Bulletin that Korean police are now in the Philippines. “We have very good relations with Philippines especially in police cooperation. Our police have been dispatched to the Philippines and they are cooperating now with Philippine policemen,” he said during a question-and-answer session with foreign news correspondents. Four investigation experts from Korea’s National Police Agency were sent to the Philippines last October 13 to support the investigation of Philippine law enforcement agency. Pinoys join Itaewon Global Village Festival

Seoul, South Korea – Filipinos in Korea participated in the Itaewon Global Village Festival 2016 held Oct. 15 and 16 here in Itaewon, Yongsan. Some even joined the parade of nations, waving the Philippine flag and donning Filipino dresses. Thousands joined the festivities in Itaewon, a popular place for foreigners in Seoul, to enjoy the food, K-pop concerts, fashion show, parties and other events. The seven-year exclusive contracts of K-pop boy band BEAST ended Oct. 15, fueling speculations that they are leaving their agency. With the expiration of the contracts, the boys are now free agents at the moment and they are no longer under Cube Entertainment. In the K-pop industry, contracts are renewed months before the expiration. Korean reports indicated that BEAST will establish their own entertainment agency to handle their career. K-pop boy band WINNER's comeback will be delayed due to member Taehyun's "mental health issues." This was announced by the boy band's agency on the YG Life blog. “Nam Taehyun, a member of WINNER, has had mental health issues since he was a trainee, but his condition has gotten worse recently,” YG Entertainment said. According to the agency, they had discussed the matter with Taehyun's mother a few months ago. They were planning to let the group continue with their activities but it wasn't possible. "He is not well enough to work," the agency said. "YG had all of WINNER’s activities on hold so that Nam Taehyun could focus on getting well. Red Velvet in car accident

Three singers from SM Entertainment groups Red Velvet and EXO were in a car accident and a fainting incident at an airport. Red Velvet's Seulgi and Yeri suffered injuries when their taxi hit a sweeper truck a few days ago. According to SM Entertainment, the two were on their way back to their dorm when they taxi hit a sweeper truck in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. Seulgi and Yeri suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. They are now in their dorm and will temporarily stop their activities to focus on recovery.
