Streaking University of Santo Tomas guns for the first semifinal berth today when it squares off with a dangerous Bureau of Customs side in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.

A victory for the Tigresses in their 4 p.m. confrontation with the Alyssa Valdez-powered BOC Transformers would not only extend their unbeaten run to five games, but would also earn them a spot into the next round.

Composed of an all-Filipino collegiate lineup, UST expects a tough match as Customs boasts of two Thai reinforcements and, of course, the versatile Valdez.

The BOC Transformers are also aching to regain their composure following a 26-24, 25-21, 25-21 defeat against BaliPure last Wednesday that put them at 2-1.

UST Coach Kungfu Reyes relies on his team’s agility and cohesiveness with EJ Laure, Carla Sandoval, Ria Meneses and Pam Lastimosa leading the charge.

Reyes and his stalwarts, however, are expected to put more effort on defense with Customs banking on the hard-hitting Valdez, spiker Kanjana Kuthaisong, and setter Natthanicha Jaisaen.

Though coming off a loss, Valdez and Kuthaisong conspired for 32 points while Jaisaen had 42 excellent sets.

Still, Valdez said they are looking at minimizing their errors that proved to be their downfall in their last game.

“Every game is a learning process naman. Siguro titingnan lang namin yung mga errors na nagawa namin last match para hindi namin madala sa mga next games namin,” said Valdez.

In the other game, University of the Philippines and Pocari Sweat battle at 4 p.m.

Both the Lady Maroons and the Lady Warriors are in the middle standings with 1-2 and 1-1 win-loss marks.

Cignal (1-1) and Champion (0-1), meanwhile, clash at 12:30 p.m. in the Spikers’ Turf.
