Bello pushes through with reshuffle of DOLE execs

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has implemented a major reshuffle within its ranks last Wednesday.

Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III officially administered the oath-taking to DOLE’s new set of officials during the agency’s 2016 Performance Assessment and Planning Exercise at the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OHSC) Office in Quezon City.

Among the newly appointed executives was Labor Undersecretary Dominador Say, who was assigned to head DOLE’s employment and policy of work cluster.

Labor Undersecretary Danilo Cruz, who has already been retired back in 2014, was reappointed to his previous position, this time to manage DOLE’s regional and special concerns cluster.

Both officials will join Labor Undersecretaries Ciriaco Lagunzad III and Joel Maglunsod.

The latest batch of appointees also includes Hans Cacdac, who was transferred to serve as the new administrator of the Overseas Worker Welfare Administration (OWWA) from his subsequent post as the head of Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

Claro Arellano, a former prosecutor at the Department of Justice (DOJ), will serve as POEA’s new administrator.

OWWA’s previous administrator, Rebecca Calzado is now under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Other officials, who were given new positions, include Alex Avilla, who was promoted as a new Assistant Secretary and Ma. Cucueco, who now serves as the new director of the Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC).

Avila served as the head of the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), while Cucueco used to lead the Occupational Safety Health Center (OHSC).

DOLE has yet to appoint new officials to assume the vacated posts of Avila and Cucueco.
