The truth about sparkling water

Water, in any of its natural form, whether liquid, vapor, or solid like ice, gives life. From the condensation that falls from the heaven, to the vast oceans and down to the human body, the abundance of water is marvelous. This is the reason people could go on longer without food and die sooner in the absence of water that leads to dehydration and complications.

Water is in fact a miracle drink. Able to make people lose weight, it lowers cholesterol, increases immunity, and more! We are talking about plain still water here but what about the one that’s bubbly, also known as sparkling water?

Does sparkling water have any health benefits or is it detrimental to one’s health? Flavored sparkling water or fizzy drinks may contain added sugars and artificial flavorings and colorings, which we all know must be consumed sparingly. Pure, unadulterated sparkling water, however, has many benefits and uses, debunking myths that cast this one miracle of nature in a bad light.

Sparkling water can be artificially made by adding carbon dioxide to plain water rendering it slightly acidic due to the carbonic acid. But the best type of sparkling water is the one made naturally.

One such sparkling water is Gerolsteiner, which is directly sourced from the Volcanic Eifel in Germany, a place considered to be of unique geological character. As the water finds its way through the various layers of rock, every drop of water becomes naturally carbonated. This is an important process, as the carbonic acid allows the water to absorb the precious minerals and trace elements from the dolomite rock.
