Guce now 10th in LPGA race

American-based golfer Clariss Guce dropped to 10th spot in the Symetra Tour money rankings putting her LPGA Tour card bid in jeopardy after she finished tied for 47th in last week’s Garden City Charity Classic in Kansas, USA.

Guce, who has won twice in the Symetra Tour and was ranked as high as fourth in the race for a Tour card a few weeks ago, has somehow lost her touch and her struggle has continued with only three more events left.

The top 10 in the money rankings earn automatic LPGA Tour cards and need not go through qualifying which is a long and arduous road to LPGA membership.

Guce is one of three Filipina players competing in the Symetra Tour, the LPGA’s developmental competition.

The others are Dottie Ardina and Mia Piccio. Both, however, are out of the running for outright Tour cards.

Ardina is ranked 22nd with earnings of $35,173 in 17 events, while Piccio is 73rd with $10,000.

Guce has earnings of $64,804 and less than $1,000 separate her from the 11th and 12th placers. The ninth placer though is just less than $500 ahead of Guce.

Meanwhile, Angelo Que finished tied for 60th in the recently-conlcuded Ana Open Golf Tournament.

Que has joined Juvic Pagunsan as active campaigners in the Japan Golf Tour where he has competed in 13 events this season with one top 10 as his best finish. He also missed five cuts.

He is scheduled to compete this week in the Asia Pacific Diamond Cup, a jointly sponsored event with the Asian Tour, where he will be joined by Pagunsan and Miguel Tabuena.
