If you’re like me, and the rest of the million moms all over the world who find great purpose and satisfaction in all things related to beauty and wellness, then you’ll find it a treat that the Shangri-La Plaza has a four-day bonanza gathering their best brands via a health and beauty fair, which runs until Aug. 21.

Staged at the East Atrium of its newest wing, the event “A Heart for Health Beauty and Wellness Fair,” brings together well-loved brands of the mall, particularly their Wellness Zone at the 5th floor, to satisfy and recognize their patron’s need for a healthy mind, body, and overall wellbeing.

The fair, staged as part of the mall’s 25th year celebration, aims to promote a holistic approach to healthy living by enticing visitors to touch, taste, smell, see, and hear your way through product selling and sampling, aromatherapy workshops, healthy food demos, all encompassed in a Zen indoor garden setup that will be complemented by live music.

Some of those participating in the fair are those considered as homegrown brands that have always been part of Shang’s effort to promote more health and wellness options. One of them is  Nail Spa, owned by friends Pauline Suaco-Juan and Anna Ricardo. Nail Spa first opened its lounge-concept nail salon at Shangri-La back in 2001, and it has been there ever since.

“At that time the lounge nail salon concept was so new, so nobody took a chance on us, and Shangri-La was the first one to recognize what Nail Spa could become,” Pauline said.

The Nail Spa underwent major renovations when the mall expanded, but the partners took it as a chance to make changes on the 15-year-old nail salon. When it reopened, the lounge offered new services like the Deep Sea Kelp Hands and Feet, which is being promoted at the fair. The service is a combination of massage, hand, and foot spa while making use of products known for its anti-aging properties.

Another brand joining the fair is Scents & Sensibilities, a home and body fragrance brand started by businesswoman Maizie SyCip-Qua in the comfort of her own home.

“I studied how to mix smells on my own, after a business deal with a local scents brand didn’t push through, and I’ve been doing it now for more than two years,” Maizie said.

Scents & Sensibilities has a charming kiosk at the mall selling room and linen spray, reed diffuser, home fragrance oil, soy candles, Eau de Toilette, dry oil mist, and Eau de Cologne. They now have 11 scents such as olive oil, ginger green tea, grapefruit eucalyptus, tangerine ginger, orange vanilla, Yuletide pine, sage & ginseng mint, citronella, melon pine, dewberry pine, basil mandarin and lime, and lemongrass. All will be available at the fair.

Sol Salao of Head Zone Salon will be promoting the salon/signature Hair Detox service at the fair for only R288. Making use of a special shampoo, the service aims to refresh hair and scalp by removing product buildup, silicone, and excess sebum in the hair.

The “A Heart for Health Beauty and Wellness Fair” will also host other brands such as Beauty Bar, Belo Medical Center, The Body Shop, Botanifique, Bowmanbear Barber Shop, Certified Calm, Crabtree & Evelyn, Detoxify Bar, Healthy Options, JNA Dance & Fitness Center, Rustan’s Department Store, and soon to open stores like Ride Revolution and Skin 101. Mall guests can find great deals and promotions from these beauty and wellness brands.

“Aside from promoting beauty and wellness, we really want people to be aware that we have such trusted brands here in the mall. We want to highlight our Wellness zone, which has been serving customers like it’s part of a close community for many years now. This is also our way of thanking brands such as Nail Spa, and tenants like Scents & Sensibilities that partnered with Shangri-La Mall in offering their services,” said Lala Fojas, Shangri-La Plaza EVP and general manager.
