Michael Cinco is making a big mark in the fashion industry by being the first Filipino designer to present his collection at the renowned Paris Fashion week in July.

The Dubai-based couture designer will be presenting his Autumn/Winter collection in July 3. In his interview with Gulf News, Cinco described his collection as a ‘homage to the beauty of nature’.

Cinco’s exhibition will be presented by the Asian Couture Federation (ACF).

ACF is an organization that seeks to ‘recognize, support and promote Asian Couturiers who have exhibited the highest levels of artistry in fashion design.’

A showcase of a special line of affordable couture-inspired pieces for COUTURíSSIMO – an initiative from ACF to make high fashion for accessible to consumers – will follow Cinco’s presentation, as reported by the Asian Journal.

The 44-year old fashion designer is no newbie at the international fashion scene.

Back in 2011, Cinco caught the attention of international supermodel, Tyra Banks. The supermodel featured Cinco’s eco-couture collection in the 16th cycle of the famous model search competition – America’s Next Top Model (ANTM). He is also the first Filipino to be featured in the show.

Cinco’s designs have also been worn by some Hollywood A-listers, including Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, and Christina Aguilera.

The couture designer was born in Catbalogan City in Samar, Philippines. He took up Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines Diliman, then transferred to Slim’s Fashion & Art’s School in Manila, two years after. To further his studies in fashion and pattern making, Cinco went to Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design in London.

Six years after moving to Dubai in 1997, Cinco established his own fashion house called Michael Cinco Haute Couture.
