It is a project organized in collaboration with the CNN Freedom Project and Not For Sale, an organization that provides enslaved laborers and at-risk communities with safety and stability, education and economic opportunities.

Other celebrities that have pledged their support for the campaign are Boy Abunda, Aiko Melendez, Pia Guanio-Mago, Ely Buendia, Basti Artadi, Rovilson Fernandez, Marc Nelson, Patrick Garcia, Meryll Soriano, Laureen Uy, Princess Violago, Francine Prieto, Walter Demesa, Joel Trinidad, Jonathan Yabut, Armi Millare, Rep.  Sherwin Gatchalian, siblings Jerika and Jake Ejercito and yours truly.

We all took this opportunity to use our influence to open people’s eyes to the reality of modern day slavery.

Unknown to most, modern-day slavery is not just forced labor. It includes various facets of oppression such as human and sex trafficking and child labor that exist in almost every supply chain, in every industry today, with over 30 million slaves – the highest in history.

Slavery is not just about physical suffering, but covers emotional distress and affliction. Freedom, sometimes taken for granted in modern society is something to be cherished and enjoyed. The modern-day slaves living their lives under forced servitude deserve a fair treatment. This advocacy brings to light the realization that freedom is a basic human right and everyone born to this world is worthy of it.

Do your part. Together, with the power of our voices, we can all help raise awareness of modern slavery and fight for a safe and free future for each human being.
