Proposals,engagements and breakups

Some showbiz news of late were about your favorite star’s love life. Have you heard about…

The Proposal

One of the most intelligent actors I’ve met is Tom Rodriguez. You can talk to him about anything under the sun and if you’re not well-read, well, you might find yourself at a loss.

Tom also paints, draws, sculpts, writes, sings, dances and act – yes, he’s like a modern-day Michelangelo trapped in a hunk’s body.

But if you’re thinking of snagging him as boyfriend or husband, forget it. Tom revealed to me that he is already planning to propose to actress Carla Abellana.

I am sure fans of the duo will be thrilled to hear this, but not Carla’s father, PJ (Abellana). When I told PJ about Tom’s plan, he said, “My mother just died – I am not yet ready to accept shocking news.”

Oops, I guess it’ll have to wait, Tom.

The Engagement

Rufa Mae Quinto is now engaged to her non-showbiz boyfriend based in San Francisco.

On Instagram, Rufa Mae mentioned meeting his family recently.

“Thanks my new family, for the love and support, for hosting from throwing a wonderful, amazing, happy, lovely engagement dinner party. Can’t say much ’coz I’m overwhelmed,” she wrote

I’m happy for you, Rufa Mae.

The breakup

I still can’t get over the fact that there will be no more dream wedding in Florence, Italy for singer Zsa Zsa Padilla and architect Conrad Onglao.

The Divine Diva’s daughter, Karylle Tatlonghari, confirmed her mom had called off the engagement. The actress-singer-TV host requests the public to give her mom privacy and time to heal.

“Magtanggol,” a flick starring Tom Rodriguez and Ejay Falcon, had a premiere screening at Megamall last Friday. Produced by Jojo Dispo whose advocacy is to help OFWs, the film also stars Dina Bonnevie, Denise Laurel, Yam Concepcion, Ricky Davao, Epy Quizon and yours truly.

We had fun during the shoot. Ms. D gave us lovely handwoven bags and blankets from her husband’s town in Ilocos. Director Siegfried Sanchez and production head Elaine Lozano made us all feel relaxed and comfy.
