President Aquino breaks his silence on Kidapawan incident

President Aquino was unaware of the incident involving the violent dispersal of farmers after a protest rally in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato last April 1, 2016.

Breaking his silence a week after the bloody clash between the protesting farmers and the police, the President admitted that he only learned about the incident after his visit to Cavite that Friday afternoon, April 1.

On that fateful day, Aquino was in Cavite for the turnover of a newly-built school building and a Liberal Party campaign rally.

Anong gagawin mo sa Kidapawan?,” Aquino said during an administration campaign activity in Makati City Friday, April 8.

Apparently, no one informed the President about the massive street demonstration of farmers seeking government aid to survive the El Niño drought that began on March 30. Three persons were killed and several others were injured after the police opened fire at the protesters during the dispersal.

Despite falling ill last April 1, the President explained that he wanted to resolve Kidapawan situation and immediately sought a meeting with concerned officials that weekend. A separate meeting with government officials about the April 2 power outage at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminal 3 was also asked by the President last Sunday, April 3.

The two meetings however were pushed back to Monday, April 4, since the officials were not yet ready to give their briefing, Aquino said.

Linggo na lang ang pahinga ng ating mga kasama pero talagang atat na atat akong umpisahan, iresolba lahat itong mga pangyayaring ‘to,” Aquino said.

When Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. reported back to him that the officials were not ready to give him a briefing, Aquino said: “Alam mo naman, pare, yung ugali ko.

President Aquino however did not give details about his meeting with the officials about the Kidapawan incident or the NAIA blackout incident.

Instead, Aquino said this was part of the difficult job of being the country’s leader. He said problems faced by a President occur simultaneously that require his immediate attention.

His tough job has even taken a toll on his health. Aquino said he had a bout of fever last April 1 and has been advised by his doctors to take some rest.

It’s very true that being a president is not an easy job but what I don’t understand is that why was he not informed of the kidapawan incident that the media is everywhere? It’s very impossible that the most powerful man in the Philippines doesn’t know what’s going on in his country. If he is ever lying, he should not assure to the people that he doesn’t know but rather say that his solution was not immediately imposed or he has not reacted instantaneously towards it. He should not brag more than twice about his health on how sick he is. Is he trying to say that because his job as a president, he got sick?
I think there are more factors to it. Also, he is not alone, he has many secretaries to handle to jobs in this nation.
