Indian motorcycles arrive

A new cruiser motorcycle brand hopes to upset the establishment with its latest offerings. The Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company is now in the Philippines, distributed by Access Plus / T.A. Marketing, known for distributing Ducati motorcycles, Victory cruisers, Polaris off-road vehicles and Italjet scooters.

The bikes were launched last Jan. 14 in Bonifacio Global City, just a day after the brand’s showroom opening in P. Tuazon street in Quezon City. The launch saw the attendance of U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Michael Klecheski, and Maxime Vandereyken, Asia Distribution Manager of Polaris Industries.

The North Carolina-based brand will be represented by three models lines, the Scout, Chief, and Road Master. The motorcycles are characterized by their low dragster-like profile, long horizontal exhaust pipes, and trademark Indian head on the front fender.

The Scout will serve as Indan’s most accessible model, made from a clean sheet design and powered by a liquid-cooled 100 hp 1133cc V-twin engine. The Chief line boasts of interesting models like the all-matte black Dark Horse, the classic Chief Vintage, the naked Chief Classic, or the cowled Chieftain, all powered by a Thunder Stroke 111 V-Twin engine. Finally, the Road Master offers modern style, comfort and power.

“Indian Motorcycle is an example of what U.S.-made products are known for globally – superior, resilient, and innovative. It is always fun to ride an Indian and I am sure it will be more fun to do so in the Philippines,” said Klecheski.

Indian Motorcycle is one of the United States’ first motorcycle companies, founded in 1901 in Springfield, Massachusetts. The marque boasts of a storied motorsports history, including the first three places in the 1911 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy.
