Aquino boasts of Daang Matuwid’s achievements

President Aquino expressed optimism that his administration’s “Daang Matuwid” (Straight Path) will be the roadmap that will enable the country to attain First World Status by 2030.

In his New Year’s message, President Aquino said he cannot help but be filled with pride for the country’s achievements in the last five years under his administration.

“I join all Filipinos as we bid farewell to a historic 2015 and expectantly look forward to a peaceful, prosperous 2016. Our country’s soaring economy, robust democracy, and magnified presence on the global stage not only promise a great start to the coming year but also highlight the Philippines’ ongoing narrative of resurgence under the Daang Matuwid,” Aquino said.

“Just a little more than five years ago, we faced a future full of despair and uncertainty; reports of plunder, mismanagement, and corruption dominated our headlines. Today, progress, opportunity, and growth fill news about the Philippines both here and abroad,” he said.

“Indeed, the Daang Matuwid is a roadmap that will catapult us into First World Status and make us a $1-trillion economy by the year 2030,” he added.

Aquino vowed that in the remaining six months of his term, his administration will “faithfully pursue its tasks.”

He also urged the public to maintain and achieve more for the country by choosing the right leaders in the 2016 elections.

“As long as we bear in our hearts and minds the welfare of our people, we will realize our inherent greatness and usher in a Philippines that we can proudly bequeath to the coming generations,” Aquino said.

Palace officials, meanwhile, dismissed criticisms that the Aquino administration has not achieved much in the past five years.

“We are hoping that our people will be able to persevere in securing the gains that we have achieved. The President often refers to the importance of a transformation or change in mindset among our people,” Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr. said.

“That whereas before many of our people were resigned to hopelessness or despair, it is now palpable and evident that more of our people are hopeful and optimistic about the future, what was deemed to be impossible is now deemed possible, and there is an overall upbeat mood that would be a good augury for the future of our country,” he added.

Coloma said that among the biggest achievements of the administration in 2015 include the lower number of Filipinos working overseas, saying that the administration was able to cut it by almost half a million; the lower number of Filipino families on the poverty line; as well as the lower number of out of school youths due to the K to 12 program and the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program.

The Palace official also underscored the surging economy as well as the successful visit of Pope Francis last January and the APEC Leaders’ Summit last November.

In the last six months of President Aquino’s term, meanwhile, Coloma said the administration will push for stronger bureaucracy, including efforts to increase the salary scale of government employees.

“Binanggit ng Pangulo ang kanyang paghahangad na mapahusay pa ‘yung burukrasya natin kaya nga’t inaasahan din ‘yung pagbabago sa salary scale ng ating mga government employees para naman madagdagan ‘yung kanilng insentibo na pahusayin ang kanilang serbisyo at para rin makakuha tayo ng mas mahuhusay at mas may kakayahang indibidwal na magkakaroon ng kagustuhang maglingkod sa pamahalaan [The President mentioned that he wants to strengthen the bureaucracy that’s why we are hoping for a change in the salary scale of our government employees to increase their incentives and for them to improve their services. We also want more individuals to join the public sector],” Coloma said.

It depends whom are the taong bayan. Because I sure appreciate it very much. Where I stand, I see a lot of new young entrepreneur taking calculated risk starting their business. Here in my little town, a young man took his hard earned money making uling, and then buying his first tricycle with a cargo sidecar. He transport cows, pigs, copras, uling, goats and firewood to his market in the city. At the end of the day he has already made a profit of 1/4 the value of the sales. In three years he has already moved up to a second hand Isuzu truck that does the same thing except when he comes back his truck delivers sand and gravel to his pre-designated customer and thats another 1/2 profit of the value . In my calculation in two more years he will be a millionaire. And the funny thing he’s just a second year High School drop out. But if you are surrounded by lazy poor beggars, you’ll think the whole Philippines is like that. NOT.

One of PNoy’s great achievements on his “Daan Matuwid” was the dismissal of the infamous corrupt plunderer junjun binay from office. This binay dude is permanently barred from serving in public office. He can no longer run for a government post or hold any government post. It is history for this binay. Next . . . jejomar . . .

Promised change vs continuity. I go for continuity pre. Promises are good but you have to take a look at who are making the promises.

Grace … poorest credentials and least experience. A life charcterized by mediocrity … poor grades in UP, never held any job longer than 3 years, no remarkable achievements to speak of. No party affiliations and likely NOT to exercise any kind of leadership in congress.

Binay … lots of experience. ONLY he never quite convinced anybody that he was innocent of the plunder charges thrust at him. If he wins the presidency, he will be IMPEACHED ASAP by his enemies in congress (he is not well connected there either). Who wants a crook for a president???

Duterte … lot’s of experience. But he kills people. He has given himself godlike powers. He spits in the eye of order and authority. Take a look at what he espouses and you discover that he is a sham. Davao city has the 4th largest crime index in all cities in the country. He is all bluster and showmanship. The world loves a rascal and he knows it. HOLY COW … this man will embarrass us … But popularity is a fickle thing ….

Miriam ??? Take a look at her politics. Supported ERAP during his impeachment. Supported Corona during his impeachment. Fawned on GMA as she plundered this country. Prone to outbreaks of bizzare behavior. She has been on medical leave in congress SINCE 2010. She attended only 5 sessions in this congress (worst than Pacquiao … he attended 7 sessions). And she has the big C which could effectively hamper her ability to do the job of a president.

My candidate is MAR. He is the most accomplished and experienced. NOBODY question the man’s integrity. Everybody acknowledges his credentials and vast experience. He has been, like PNoy, the victim of bad press for the last five years. He makes a mistake … he is in the headlines. Korina makes a slip, she is in the headlines. If he does a good job …. nobody hears about it hehehe … Big business hates Mar because he is in the mold of PNoy. A potentially STRONG president with a STRONG following in congress … Only he among the FIVE has the CONNECTIONS to make earth shaking changes like PNoy has done.

The smart choice is Mar Roxas diba ??? He is nobody’s sentimental favorite …. but sentimentality has always been the problem of the filipino voter diba???

    • Naldo

I cannot agree more to all you said. People like you puts silver linings of hopes and possibilities that Filipinos are capable and can achieve greater accomplishment . Almost all countries around us and as far Europe and the Americas has admired our achievement and progress especially removing that old moniker of being “the sick man of Asia”. I fell sad that most well educated Filipinos put more emphasis on the minuscule failures rather than seeing the big picture of progress gained in the last five years. We owe not our positive performance to one man or a few men, but rather to all Filipinos.

The fact and reality is Mar simply cannot win – he will even have a hard time winning the votes of Ilonggo voters.

      • Naldo

And where did you get this baloney? We Ilonggos are voting for MAR because he is the right person to lead our country, not because he is an Ilonggo like us. We choose him because he has the best record of all the candidates in the ballot. We know who is the liar, the thief, the murderer, and the drama queen.
Ilonggos are solid ROXAS – ROBRERO FOR 2016.

” Today, progress, opportunity, and growth fill news about the Philippines both here and abroad.” Remarks like this will make Binay appear horribly honest to majority of Filipinos who are living below poverty line.

  • redsnapper1

Those so-called achievements, in my view, are but mere smokescreens to cover up the corruption in the various government agencies. Even the village idiot knows this. As soon as he steps down from office, more light will be shed on this massive corruption.

    • Naldo

What people always talk about is always centered in NRC. Here in the provinces, (i.e. Western and Central Visayas) has had a windfall of very good successes, thanks to the present administration. We have no problem with Virginia. We have no problem with BOC. We have no problem with traffic. We have no problem with prison cells. Our poor who are awarded government housing, do not sell them and move back under the bridges. They actually dwell in it, like they should. Yes we have our share of unemployment but we do something about it. But for those who work, works and pay their taxes like everyone else. Come to Iloilo and compare the Pasig river to our river. You’ll see the big difference of doing something, instead of complaining and putting blame on the Palace every time all the time. Its beyond ridiculous.

      • redsnapper1

You have Senator Drillon to thank for that. I guess you can call that Selective Tuwid na Daan.

Since abnoy took over as president the national budget has been increasing in trillions of pesos to the now 2016 budget of P3.6T, what can boy sisi show for that enormous amount of money? add to this the large amount of external debt that the govt continues to borrow. Only the 3.5 km. Daang Hari was completed by this inept govt ,the rest of what they are bragging about as infrastructures are PPPs which are privately funded projects which by the way have sovereign guarantees, so if those companies defaults it’s the taxpayers who will foot the bills. The only consolation for the taxpayers is to see abnoy and the rest of his thieving cabals put in jail after the next election.

ISN’T THE CORRECT CHOICE RIDICULOUSLY OBVIOUS ????
MarLeni is not about making self-serving POLITICAL PROMISES. MarLeni is about CONTINUING WHAT ALREADY EXISTS !!!

MarLeni is Tuwid na Daan version 2.0

Eto ang Tuwid na Daan version 1.0.

Jinggoy, Manong Johnny, Bong Revilla jailed for plunder. Gloria JAILED for
plunder, an inefficient OMBUDSMAN forced to resign, a corrupt chief
justice (Corona) impeached, corrupt generals jailed, corrupt former
chief of staff Angelo Reyes committed suicide when faced with reprisal,
PAGCOR Chairman Efraim Genuino is now facing a plunder case, JunJun
Binay and Jejomar is ABOUT to be charged with plunder, our PAG-ASA
weather forecasting has improved by leaps and bounds, our DISASTER
MITIGATION systems have GREATLY improved since GMA’s Ondoy fiasco, we
have 2 new BIG SHIPS, we are about to receive 12 NEW fighter jets, we
are about to purchase, 8 new AW109E Power helicopters (attack
helicopters) of which 4 has been delivered will be received by our Navy
and Air force, 142 M113A2 Armored Vehicles Arriving for the Philippine
Army, top NPA leadership CAPTURED, our armed forces is no longer the
butt of jokes in the region. our COAST Guard have been guarding our
coastlines as if they mean business, we have been killing ASG’s, we have
been killing NPA’s, we have been jailing chinese druglords left and
right, we have killed BOTH Usman and Marwan, unprecented increase of
DRUG RELATED arrests during Mar’s stint in the DILG, PNoy’s
administration has so far built 86,748 new classrooms in stark
comparison GMA’s 17,305 classrooms during her last term, our credit
ratings have improved consistently over the years, we are among the
fastest growing economies in the globe, we have the CCT that RESCUES
those who have virtually nothing in life, the Philippines has shown it’s
balls when we correctly filed a case against China’s usurping of our
territories in the west Philippine sea, we have been able to forge
defense allianses with the USA, Japan, Australia, Sout Korea, Vietnam in
checking china’s pacman tendencies, our christmas bonuses hehe are more
substantial because of tax shields, Php 133 billion PP programs are now
awarded with another Php 400 billion to be awarded this year. our Gross
Domestic Product vs Debt ratio has decreased from 54.8% in 2010 to
37.3% in 2015 (the lowest EVER), according to Bloomberg the Philippines
will be the SECOND fastest growin economy in 2015 (HOLY COW … KELAN PA
NANGYARI IYAN???)And did you guys know that the Arroyo administration
collected Php 5.13 trillion in taxes for her 9 years in office ????
PNoy’s administration in 5 years, collected Php 5.36 trillion. That is
the reason why, the oft repeated phrase ‘walang budget para dito’
disappeared during PNoy’s term. The Binays, father and son INDICTED by
the OMBUDSMAN for graft. Junjun Binay SACKED and banned from running for
or occupying government. positions. PNoy has reduced the number of GOCC’s (government owned corporations) by 20 and is planning to reduce it by 14 more by 2017 by focusing on the non-performing companies and those that are not really needed. But inspite of that, during PNoy’s term, the GOCC’s turned over dividends to the national government amounting to Php131.8 billion from 2010 to 2015 (4 years roughly) as compared to Php 84.18 billion for GMA’s administration from 2001 to 2009 (roughly 8 years). This administration INTRODUCED zero based budgetting for the first time and has to a great EXTENT … ITEMIZED THE national budget !!! This may not appear SIGNIFICANT at first glance, but the implication here is that THIS TIME, before a budget is made, the uses of the monies are more carefully studied IN ADVANCE !!! There is actual planning happening before the monies are sourced out !!! A testimony to our governments reforms in good governance…..
Hindi po ito DROWING. Walang mga pangakong ginagawa dito. Ito ang KATOTOHANAN !!!!

What are the Tuwad na Daan’s “achievements”? Abusing hundreds of billions of taxpayers’ money on PDAF and DAP, Abnoy’s greedily keeping P1 Trillion pork for himself without transparency, inserting clone DAPs in budgets, withholding funds for infrastructure projects as “savings”, Luneta massacre fiasco, Abnoy’s stand down order that led to the deaths of SAF 44, pervasive corruption in all departments of the government and increase in poverty level with more than half of all Filipinos living in abject poverty.

PDAP and DAP are two different programs. PDAP has actually completed many projects her in the Visayas and the other regions aside from NRC. Luneta fiasco happened because the President did not single handedly attack the bus himself. Thats why you blame him. You blame him for all the crazy people around you. SAF 44 was compromised because Brutus informed MILF of their exact location and operation. Corruption put food on your table, roof on your head, and send you to school. It all started at home.

YOu are so concern of your poor that you blame everything on present administration like they created them yesterday. That problem existed long before he was born or maybe you. I have seen those people you stigmatized as abject, all the way back in 1964, the first time I set foot in Manila as a young man. The biggest mistake you people make is you keep choosing someone that sing and dance, and can entertain your crowd. Look at you people in Manila. You love the Sottos, Estradas, Revillas, Lapids, Poes, because they are part of the entertainment groups. Soon you will elect Vice-Ganda as metro manila governor like you did Imelda. This is sad. These people have no solution for Manila problems because they do not care. They will never care. Your poor is forever going to stay poor until YOU will do something about it. My eyes have seen enough problems created by my own countrymen. Please choose leaders that really can make a difference. Don’t choose them because you are related or you owe him a favor. Choose him because he can get the job done better than the other guy.

I “stigmatized” the poor? LOL! I am highlighting their plight so the corrupt and incompetent government will pay attention to their needs. Yes, there was poverty way back decades ago. But it’s worse now because the stupid leaders of the Philippines allowed the population to grow by leaps and bounds without knowing how to provide jobs for them.

You don’t know where the people who live in abject poverty are? Go to Tondo squatter areas, walk around Ermita and see families living on sidewalks, or along the Esteros of Makati and Pasay. Check out the poor living in shacks under Quiapo Bridge. or begging by the door of Quiapo Church, etc. Mendicants are present all over the Philippines, all you have to do is keep your eyes wide open to notice them.

I agree that our country has grown by leap and bounce with our economic indicators very stable, our GDP and GNP at their highest levels, unemployment rate is low, prices of goods stable, low crime rate, etc. and we have gained the respect of the international community… The Daang Matuwid should be continued by the next leaders of our country…
